Part:

  • Manufacturer: Audi
  • Part Number: TBD
  • Price: $85
  • Description: Filler plate for non S-line front grill; license plate delete
  • Distributor: Private seller (Audizine)

Application:

The front license plate on your car (for those of you who are unfortunate enough to life in a state which requires you to run a front license plate) is used for one purpose: speed traps. To get the most accurate results from radar/laser speed detectors, a police officer will aim it right at your horizontal and highly reflective plate. If you don't have a front license plate, they have to aim it at something else, usually a head light or windshield (which doesn't give the best results).

Additionally, the front grill of a car is usually not designed with a license plate in mind. They typically stick out and restrict airflow to the radiator and destroy the smooth lines that some artist spent days perfecting.

It comes as no surprise that many Audi owners remove their front licenses plates for the two reasons above. You can either remove the license plate and be left with a frame and two holes, or purchase a filler plate with no license plate support, as seen above. I have opted for the later. Its a quick and easy upgrade that can change the look of your vehicle dramatically.

Installation:
